Creative Exercises for Wellbeing
I have found that WhiteOut Poetry offers surprisingly deep explorations of my feelings. Playing with the layout, messages, and multiple meanings of disappearing words helps me process intense emotions, so that I can come to greater peace and acceptance.
The results become “word-art” that I can appreciate later with less intensity than when I began.
Project Time: As long as you like.
PROJECT START:
Get in touch with strong emotions that need your attention. Let yourself really feel what is going on inside.
Write out your feelings, thoughts, messages free-form and uncensored, until you run out of things to share. Then review the text and rewrite the sentiments with as few words and possible. Condense the material down to it’s core meanings.
Allow your writing to sit for a time. Return later and view your words as if they were a puzzle. Seek ways to eliminate some of the words to create new meanings or perspectives.
Experiment with the arrangement to create puns, double-meanings, alternate meanings and more. Get creative and playful with your process. Enjoy!

The Base: For this work you can start from your own words (i.e., journals, prose, letters, or poetry), or something written by someone else (i.e., books, books, magazines, newspapers, etc.).
WhiteOut material:
Whiteout, White Paint, thick Sharpie, or paint pens
